Metatarsalgia

Forefoot pain may sometimes be diagnosed as metatarsalgia. However, this diagnosis is too general and provides little information about the cause of this condition or how it should be treated. Metatarsalgia is a symptom, not a condition, and it is a dated and nonspecific term. Numerous problems can cause pain in the front of your foot, so we will try to be more specific and identify each of these problems. Possible causes of forefoot pain include interdigital neuroma, metatarsophalangeal synovitis, avascular necrosis, sesamoiditis, and inflammatory arthritis.
