Sometimes pain in the front of a person’s foot will be diagnosed as metatarsalgia.  Unfortunately, this diagnosis provides little information as to cause or treatment, because it is too general. There are numerous types of tissue that can cause pain in the front of the foot, thus we will attempt to be more specific and identify all of these individually and recommend retirement of this outdated and non-specific term.
